What made street fighter 2 so impressive for the PC Engine, is that how much of a cut back street fighter 1 (fighting street) was the PC engine CD! Also as a kid I had the PC Engine GT, it was just so cool to have a comparable game to the snes street fighter (or me at 15, a clearly superior version) on a hand held!

I loved mdk and even picked up it's sequel for 1.50 boxed i also played the gba street fighter alpha 3 and 1 as swriously impressed by it given the limitaions of rhe system. Invader on gba is another great game on that system

I'd argue that Wolfenstein 3-D for the SNES deserves to be on a list like this. It runs pretty smoothly, and they did it in three weeks even with Nintendo's demands for censorship they got it finished on time.

The PC Engine is certainly not a "NES in steroids" just because it has an 8 bit CPU. The video hardware was leagues above that, even surpassing the Genesis in some aspects (256 colors).

Star Castle and Star Castle for 2600 are my favorite case of this. How often do you have two different impossible ports of the same game? And on a glorified Pong/Combat machine, no less.

EA sucks so hard. Bullfrog was my favorite company and we missed out on some crazy games because of EA. (Did not like Satellite Reign at all for what it's worth.)

Literally the only legit point here is MK -- way better on Genesis than SNES. The other games are either better on SNES, or in most cases, shitty on both systems, so who TF cares? And MK II even reversed this, being much better on SNES (and much better than either MK port). Face it dude, the 16-bit console wars have been over for nearly 30 years, and Sega was a distant second, at best (I actually prefer Turbografx/PC Engine).

I think the beauty of Chryssalids, Mind control and Blastes is that they are poorly balanced. Blaster can literally oneshot anything, Chryssalid can oneshot any soldier, MC can control any creature (aside from civilians). The point is - there are things in this game against which there can be no defense. It's brutal and punishing. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. but it is beautiful.

I'm honestly proud that i played in local tournaments with Kinnikuman Muscle Grand Prix 2. The game's still breathing to this day... But on life support

Hard truck Apocalypse was a neat one that had more of an RPG element to it's vehicular combat. Your truck was modifiable and you had quests and bandits to deal with in a bizarre setting. Though I suppose it didn't have area fighting at all.

How have you not played Interstate 76 and love the car combat genre?!? Go and play it! You'll love it.

Speedball II is a fantastic game that I have dumped 100's of hours in since the early 90's. Have it installed on my PC as I type this and try and play a couple of games a week. Your review is spot on....now if we could just get a good Rollerball game and we would be in business.

Doesn’t the Gamecube typically beat most PS2 games anyway? I thought it was supposed to be more powerful and have better graphics.

Fast forward to today, and people are defending Nintendo cutting Paper Mario TTYD's frame rate in half for the Switch remake... It's like getting a PS2 port of TTYD, only with prettier graphics for once.
